utno business was transacted beyondthe admission of Dr. W. G. Thomas,of Wilmington, and Drs. L. Frinkand W. G. Curtis of Brunswick, asmembers* The next meeting of the Societywill be on the occasion of its firstFair in August. The Carolina Horticultural Society. This society, proceedings of firstmeeting of which we publish, wasorganized in Wilmington, on Fridaythe twenty-second of last month. The gentlemen comprising thefirst meeting of this society, arewell known, and their names are aguarantee that it will be permanentand successful. We hail with pleasure every suchevidence as this of our countrysprosperity, and can but congratu-late our people that they have atlast awoke to the importance of con-centrating intelligent thought andearnest effort upon the great scienceof agriculture, and kindred pursuits.We are in the field, earnestly, in be-half of this great cause, and theReconstructed Farmer and our-selves, are very much at the serviceof the Carolina Horticultural socie- JUNE, 1810.
