English: The site of the former Haxey & Epworth station The line between Doncaster and Gainsborough was opened in 1867. Since then all the intervening stations have been closed but the line itself is still open and busy. Haxey & Epworth station opened as Haxey on 9th July 1867 and was renamed Haxey & Epworth in May 1884. Between 1905 and 1956 it was also the junction with the Axholme Joint Railway - see 6261687. The station closed to passengers on 2nd February 1959 and to freight on 29th June 1965. The line though is still open. |
