Thiscalm beauty changes as the valley ascends, and we soon find the streama mountain torrent, well in keeping with its picturesque situation andsurroundings. So with alternate rush of torrent and placid beauty ofcalm reaches the romantic stream flows down from the high table-landsof Chestnut Hill to its embouchure in the valley of the Schuylkill. A few manufacturing establishments have invaded the sequesteredvalley; but the Park Commissioners have taken measures to do awaywith them all after a certain number of years, and restore the Wissa-hickon as nearly as possible to its pristine wildness and unfetteredbeauty.
