ies in the construc-tion and mounting of the shear or nose. The shear is in two parts,making it possible to raise the lower piece from the track withoutlifting the entire mass of metal. It is hung from the framing by standing put up suitable grounds for all such colors. A glaze isa transparent color, ground fine in varnish or japan, added tovarnish, and deftly applied as varnish over the surface. It is ad-visable to first test this glaze on a prepared piece of wood or othermaterial, to judge of the amount of color to add to the varnish.This glaze must be put on very carefully and dexterously to avoidcloudines. The color that we use at this shop is of the lake order, and as Ican get as good results (though the printed instructions recom-mend its being used as a glaze) by using it as a flat coating, Iprefer this method for the excellent reason that as our letters,stripes and ornaments are in aluminum foil, the application ofthe foil is much easier on a flat than on a glossy surface. Beforeproceeding to color the car the roof and deck should be cleanedas well as all the interior and exterior of the car. The roof anddeck are first gone over.
