e Lincoln avenueline, is a duplicate of the Milwaukee avenue line, andruns from the terminus of the Lincoln avenue cable line,of the North Chicago Street Railroad, to Bowmanville.All the rails are 85-pound girder, and the special workwas made by the Johnson Company, Johnstown, Pa. Fifteen single truck Brownell accelerator cars are inuse on each line. They are equipped with G. E. 800motors and K controllers, six American Electric Companyheaters, connected series multiple and Meaker stationaryfare registers. The line appliances are those of the NewYork Electrical Works, and the line material and cablewires were furnished by the American Feeder Works, NewYork. The American Railway Construction Companydid the track work. Work was begun in August, underthe direction of C. E. Collins, general superintendent of thecompany, who began street railway work with Sprague,and has been connected with the Edison Companj- andGeneral Electric Company in the southern district. ST. LOUIS AMBULANCE CAR. Collins will have his office at the Elston avenue car barn,which is about four miles from the city end of the line.The building is 315 by 92 feet, two stories, with capacityfor eighty cars. The floor and pits are of concrete, thelatter draining into the sewer in the street. The build-ing is heated by steam. An electric elevator will be putin to carry cars to the second story. The officers of thecompany are D. H. Louderback, president; J. R. Chap-man, general manager; C. E. Collins, superintendent. ELECTRIC STREET CAR AMBULANCE. Planned by Dr. George Homan, Health Commissioner—Now inOperation in St. Louis. After many years of hard work endeavoring to obtainfavorable legislation, but unable to secure it, Dr. GeorgeHoman, health commissioner of St. Louis, has at lastsecured an ambulance car through another source. Dr.Homan has long felt the need of a car for transferringpersons to the hospital, but has met with many discour-agements in his efforts to bring it i
