PART In the June Rkview was printed several opinions ofmanagers on the subject of vestibule equipment, whichhave attracted wide interest. In this issue the discussionof the question is continued, most of the opinions being fortable in severe weather. The motorman being fullyinclosed is warm and comfortable and in much bettercondition to handle his car properly and safely thanthough he was benumbed with the cold. This is quite apoint in the accident feature of the business. BELIEVES IN THEM. J. E. Rugg, superintendent of the Citizens TractionCompany, Pittsburg, writes: We use vestibules on allour cars, cable and electric, and believe most thoroughlyin them. The advantage is that they protect the grip-men and motormen in cold and stormy weather, so thathey are able to be comfortable without encumbering

Campbell, manager of the Winnipeg ElectricStreet Railway Company, Winnipeg, Man., writes: We use vestibules on all our cars. We have to as ourwinters are cold. There is no city ordinance, but aheavenly one. A manager of a large system writes : All motorcars operated between the ist of November and the istof April, are equipped with vestibules. This was donein compliance with the law passed by the state legislatureduring the winter of 1892-3. It involved a good deal ofexpense for us to make these changes but there are somepoints wherein the vestibuled car has its decided advan-tages over an open front car. The body of the car ismuch warmer, being protected by the double partition,and consequently the passengers are much more com- themselves with extra clothing and waterproofs.
