The simple question ofliow fast the cars are runis easy to dispose of, but the question as to whether theordinance is unreasonable requires the examination ofexperts. We intended to bring a number of prominent railroadmen here from other cities to testify as experts. Itwould have taken three days to try one of these casesbut the expert testimony could have been given in onesuit and stand for the other cases as well. The compa-nies have fixed their schedules in conformity with thisordinance, and it has provoked a storm of disapproval allover the city. The citizens got tired of horse-car speed, having longoutgrown that stage and demanded the old schedule.The companies have begun proceedings in the Supremecourt to test the constitutionality of the speed ordinance.
