Wenever could understand why. Sometimes we wouldfind blackened sticks where a fire had been burningand bones lying near it. Perhaps they ate goats; wenever knew. It seemed strange that we never foundgoats heads and skins. I think they must have eatenthe heads and skins. But lions dont do that; wenever could understand. ***But dont they point magic sticks at us anymore? asked Rocky nervously. They have not done so for many years. Perhaps they have lost the sticks, Rocky sug-gested. No, said Uncle Waggletoe, they still have them,and sometimes they point them at lions. That is whatmakes your father think they have become our friends.They do not kill any animals nowadays but lions. They travelled west across the Divide and de-scended between bleak white glaciers to the mostbeautiful water that Rocky ever had seen.
