English: LIBI_00019_00197; This item is an albumen cabinet card (card-mounted photograph) of Thomas W. Custer standing in full military dress and holding a saber. The three-quarters view photograph is 4 x 5 7/8" (4 1/4 x 6 1/2" mounted) and was produced circa 1872 by J.F. Coonley of the Y. Day studio in Memphis, Tennessee. On the front, a handwritten notation in pencil reads, "Medals of Honor to Tom Custer about 1871-2." The photographer's stamp is printed in black ink on the verso.Photograph reprinted in "The Custer Album" by Lawrence A.
