Description
English: * "The Spanish edition was brought out in 1659-1672. The arrangement is that of the Latin edition of 1662-1665, though the volumes have not been numbered ... corresponding volumes of the Latin edition have been assigned in this case. The eleventh volume containing America was never published, and Africa was omitted from v. 9 ... The Spanish edition is very rare, as almost the whole edition was destroyed by fire in 1672, when the publishing house of Blaeu was burned. This copy does not contain the general title-page for the work and many of the parts lack any title-page at all."--NUC, pre-1956.
  • Dedication leaf and 11 scattered maps only from the original ten-volume set.
  • Most of the maps are double; all have text on versos.
  • The set was issued without a general t.p.; title from NUC,pre-1956; some of the volumes had special title pages. cf.British Museum. General catalogue of printed books.
