Summary
[edit]DescriptionTitus Street, Saltaire - geograph.org.uk - 133148.jpg |
English: Titus Street, Saltaire. Saltaire was built between 1851 and 1876 by Sir Titus Salt, to house the workers in his mills. As a deeply religious man, Salt was concerned for the health and moral well-being of his workforce, so provided them with good quality housing (for the time), and facilities for education. He also named the streets after his large family - hence Titus St, Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, and Lockwood and Mawson his architects. |
