Summary
[edit]DescriptionTorreya californica in a Coast Range forest near Calistoga 03.jpg |
English: In deep shade, Torreya californica grows new stems as the older stems lean in search of sunlight. The moss-covered oldest stem is still alive, and has sprouted vertical branches along its 20-foot length. This location is near Calistoga, northwest of Napa Valley, California. A northeast-facing steep ravine along Diamond Mountain Road, elevation 1200 feet, beneath a Coast Redwood and Douglas-fir canopy. |
