Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Town Salts Once an area of cliff that collapsed into the Rother between 1350-75 that then became Baddings Marsh until reclaimed in the 16th century. It is now an open piece of land between the Rother and the town. The houses below are on the A259 Fishmarket which bypasses Rye around the base of the cliff. The houses above are on East Street. Both Rye and nearby Winchelsea are one of the few towns in Britain that resembles the classic French fortified hill town.
