Summary
[edit]DescriptionTraffic island artwork and Village Hotel, Coventry - geograph.org.uk - 159853.jpg |
English: Traffic island artwork and Village Hotel, Coventry On Coventry Business Park - Herald Avenue in the foreground, the Village Hotel behind the traffic island, and Dolomite Avenue going off to the right past the hotel.
The stainless steel sculpture on the island is entitled 'Gloria' (after a make of Triumph car) and is by Robert Erskine. It is based on a wheeling machine which was used to shape metal sheets for car body sections. It celebrates the first centenary of the British car industry and the communities of the west midlands whose skills established this. |
