internal sphincter muscle on the leftside, appeared entirely normal, and clear urine was seen com-ing from it. The bladder sphincter appeared to be relaxed,and it was thought that this might account for the incontin-ence, (Figs. 1 and 2.) Operation.—The sphincter was tightened by folding it uponitself and by taking a few stitches, but did not relieve thesymptoms. Ten months later the patient returned for anexamination, at which time her history was typical of ex-travesical ureter. She had incontinence and dribbling of urine,and in addition voided normally from three to five times daily.It was necessary for her to wear a pad constantly. Cystoscopic examination at this time showed a left ureteralmeatus situated just inside the bladder sphincter. On with-drawing the scope, a meatus was found in the right wall ofthe urethra 1.5 cm. outside the bladder sphincter. It had theappearance of a normal meatus.
