Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Trent & Mersey Canal, Swarkestone Swarkestone was once the junction for the Derby Canal, the course of which started from the arm where the boats are now moored. The Derby Canal officially closed in 1964 although there were was probably virtually no traffic after the 1930s. A restoration society has the aim of reinstating the entire canal for navigation, although there is a great deal of work necessary before that can happen.
