Afrikaans: Amerikaanse dienslede wat aan die Swift (HSV-2), 'n hoëspoedvaartuig toegewys is, grawe 'n gat vir 'n heiningpaal tydens 'n gemeenskapsdiensprojek ten behoewe van Damarasterretjies (Sternula balaenarum) se broeigebied te Walvisbaai in die Walvisbaai-distrik, Namibië, op 22 Mei 2012. Die heining is ter beskerming van die bedreigde voëls opgerig, en keer dat voertuie hul broeihabitat binnegaan en beskadig. Die projek was 'n bydrae tot die Africa Partnership Station (APS) 2012, 'n internasionale sekuriteit-samewerkingsinisiatief wat deur die Kommandeur van V.S. Vlootmagte in Europa/Afrika aangevoer word, en daarop gemik is om globale maritieme vennootskappe te versterk deur opleiding en samewerkende aktiwiteite wat maritieme veiligheid en veiligheid in Afrika sal verbeter.
English: U.S. Service members assigned to high speed vessel Swift (HSV-2) dig a hole for a fence post during a community service project at the Walvis Bay district Damara tern (Sternula balaenarum) breeding ground in Walvis Bay, Namibia, May 22, 2012. The fence was built to help protect the endangered birds by preventing vehicles from entering and damaging the habitat where they breed. The project was conducted in support of Africa Partnership Station (APS) 2012. APS is an international security cooperation initiative facilitated by Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa aimed at strengthening global maritime partnerships through training and collaborative activities in order to improve maritime safety and security in Africa. |
