Summary

[edit]
Description
English: SITE CONDITIONS: The secondary day school accommodates about 250 students with about 5 Pit-latrines serving the students and another 2 pit-latrines for the teachers. The facilities are also used as changing rooms for the purpose of sport lessons. The school receives water from a nearby borehole which is salty and unfit for consumption as well as irrigation. It cooks lunch for the students on charcoal stoves.

INTERVENTIONS: A single-chamber UDDT for boys and girls is being constructed with about 6 doors and one urinal is build with additional internal area for changing. Also it is planned to install urinals for female students. The urine and the feces are to be used on the school premises for tree planting and small scale agriculture in the schools garden. On the side of improving the limited water resources the ROSA project implemented a grey water recycling unit with settling chambers (Kentainer plastic tanks are used) and a wetland system with vertiva grass like in project 1. The water from the new hand-wash facility feeds in the unit automatically and grey water from the kitchen can be added manually. Awareness creation workshops took place.

Moreover the school plans on its own behalf to outfit the school with a rain water harvesting system to further improve water supply
