English: Marines and Sailors aboard the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) man the rails as the ship departs Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Aug. 9, 2014. America was moored in Rio for a scheduled port visit during her maiden transit, "America Visits the Americas." During the visit, the ship's command hosted distinguished visitors while Marines and Sailors with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South conducted a theater security cooperation event with Brazilian Naval forces on Marambaia Island. Through partner nation activities, key leader engagements and security cooperation activities, the Marines and Sailors aboard America demonstrated the flexibility, unity and unparalleled expeditionary capability the Navy-Marine Corps team provides our nation and partners.
