English: Machinists Mate 3rd Class Mydung Tran, from San Diego, left, writes a note to kids from Children International during a Project Handclasp community relations project hosted by the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington. Project Handclasp is a program within the Department of the Navy that accepts humanitarian, educational and goodwill donations and ships them to foreign nations on a space-available basis aboard U.S. Navy vessels. George Washington and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing 5, provide a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. |
