| Description |
English: Virgin and child, St Michael's Church, Àird Choinnich South Uist was largely untouched by the Reformation and the population remains largely Catholic with seven churches and chapels on the island. The Presbytery at the east end of the Church can be seen. This statue is most unusual in that it shows the infant Christ held high on the Virgin's shoulder instead of in her arms. |
