Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Wallington Bridge The bridge is built from honey-coloured sandstone, and has a single arch crossing the river. It has not been altered since it was built for the Blackett family in 1755. It was constructed to carry the turnpike road from Hexham to Alnwick over the River Wansbeck http://www.keystothepast.info/durhamcc/K2P.nsf/K2PDetail?readform&PRN=N10501 Drivers are asked to sound their horns on approach as the steepness of the arch creates a significant blind-spot.
