English: Wartime Theatre- Entertainment in London, England, UK, August 1943 Actor Douglas Byng (centre, just stepping onto the pavement) arrives for work at the Lyric Theatre, where he is starring in 'Flying Colours' with Binnie Hale and Jackie Hunter. Behind him, the queue of people awaiting entry can be seen under the canopy which covers the entrance to the theatre. The original caption states that "with petrol restrictions in force, even stars walk to work". |
