| Description |
English: Westerfield station and level crossing 1979 A train to Felixstowe arrives from Ipswich. The level crossing gates have been opened by hand by a dedicated crossing keeper, separate from the signalman in the signalbox at the other end of the station. Signals are unusual: a rare co-acting signal for the train shown, while the opposite direction's equivalent is on the opposite side of the line from normal. The reason in both cases is to permit high-speed running through the station which at one time carried London-Lowestoft expresses. |
