| Description |
English: Weymouth Relief Road (3) This is the reverse view of WRR(1) looking from the point where the new road will leave the A354 Se towards where it will cross the Ridgeway. Because of the nature of the topography several cuttings and embankments will be used to get a satisfactory gradient. There will be quite a large cutting on the top of the ridgeway through the chalk escarpment. Because the chalk is an aquifer that supplies Weymouth with water, the run-off water from the road will be piped all the way down to some holding ponds near Lodmoor to prevent contamination of the aquifer. |
