| Description |
English: Whitby swingbridge The "business" part of the bridge, controlled by electrical and hydraulic power, to swing one half of the bridge through 90 degrees horizontally. The same applies to both east and west sections.
Refurbishment of the electrical and hydraulic power units are currently ongoing (July '09), and a standby diesel engine will be incorporated into the design to provide a full standby facility in the event of a mains power failure. |
