English: White Cart Water flood prevention scheme - Blackhouse Following years of numerous flooding events in the south of Glasgow, work began in March 2008 on a £53 million flood prevention scheme for the White Cart Water and its tributary, the Auldhouse Burn. One of three flood storage areas designed to temporarily hold back floodwater is located on the Earn Water at Blackhouse Farm. A huge conical-shaped Hydro-Brake Flow Control can be seen in the distance awaiting installation. |
