Deutsch: Das Bundeskanzleramt an der Adresse Ballhausplatz 2 im 1. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Innere Stadt.
Ursprünglich wurde es im Auftrag Karls VI. vom Hofarchitekten Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt (Baumeister Christian Alexander Oedtl) als repräsentatives Gebäude für die damalige Geheime Hofkanzlei erbaut (Grundsteinlegung am 13. September 1717) und diente später als Staatskanzlei. Von 1764 bis 1767 wurde das Gebäude im Auftrag Maria Theresias von ihrem Hofarchitekten Nikolaus Pacassi verändert und bedeutend erweitert, wobei die Hauptfassade zum Ballhausplatz hin an sich nur gering verändert wurde. 1922 übersiedelte das Bundeskanzleramt aus seinem ursprünglichen Amtssitz im Palais Modena (heute Innenministerium) hierher. In dem Gebäude amtierten in der Zeit der I. Republik auch noch der Bundespräsident (Trakt in der Löwelstraße) und der Außenminister. Am 10. September 1944 wurde der Gebäudekomplex durch Bomben beschädigt, wobei der Wiederaufbau am 20. Februar 1950 abgeschlossen war: [1]. Die „Anti-Terror-Pollern“ davor, als Reaktion auf den Terroranschlag auf dem Breitscheidplatz in Berlin, wurden 2017 errichtet, führten zu einer Politposse und kosteten rd. 800.000 Euro (inklusive 11 fixen und 4 hydraulischen Pollern bei der gegenüberliegenden Präsidentschaftskanzlei): [2].
