Summary[edit]

Description
Deutsch: Westsüdwestansicht des Prinz-Eugen-Denkmals am Heldenplatz im 1. Wiener Bezirk Innere Stadt und im Hintergrund die Neue Hofburg.
Das bronzene Reiterstandbild auf einem Postament aus geschliffenem und poliertem Untersberger Marmor stellt den Prinz Eugen von Savoyen dar und wurde am 18. Oktober 1865 enthüllt. Den Auftrag dazu erhielt der Bildhauer Anton Dominik von Fernkorn 1860 und nachdem dieser um 1862 erkrankte, erfolgte die Fertigstellung weitgehend von seinem Schüler Franz Pönninger. Die Zeichnung zu den Ornamenten stammt von Eduard van der Nüll und die Steinmetzarbeiten führten Krammer und Josef Budowitz aus.
