| Description |
Deutsch: Der Sigmund-Freud-Park im 9. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Alsergrund und dahinter die Votivkirche im „Votivpark“ bzw. am Rooseveltplatz sowie im Vordergrund eine Grundwasser-Abpumpleitung, die wegen dem Neubau der U-Bahn-Station Rathaus (U2/U5) temporär errichtet wurde.
Der Park wird von Universitätsstraße, Straße des Achten Mai und Währinger Straße begrenzt. Die Benennung erfolgte im Gemeinderatsausschuss für Kultur am 8. November 1984. Vorher hieß er inoffiziell „Votiv(kirchen)park“: [1]. Die Votivkirche im Hintergrund wurde nach den Plänen von Heinrich von Ferstel im neogotischen Stil ab 1856 errichtet und zur Silbernen Hochzeit des Kaiserpaares am 24. April 1879 feierlich geweiht. Sie wurde als „Dankgeschenk“ (eine sogenannte Votivgabe, daher kommt der Name) errichtet, weil das Attentat am 18. Februar 1853 auf Kaiser Franz Joseph misslang: [2].
