| Description |
English: Wolverhampton Art Gallery (detail) Ladies Only The gallery was opened in 1884. As the first floor has no windows (so that there is more wall space inside for hanging pictures) there was space on the outside for some attractive and appropriate carved masonry. Here on the front of the building, ladies are seen pursuing suitably feminine artistic activities. The gentlemen "do their stuff" on the other panel.
