Wing Bling. The magnificent Bamboo Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa iridipennis). You have to go to Southeast Asia to see this lady (This one came from East Java(Thank you Jonathan Mawdsely)). Turns out that you can be a very very large bee and still invoke WIPs. What are WIPs ? Wing Inteference pattern has everything to do with thin films and is beyond my scope to explain details better explained elsewhere in Internet Space. That said, we mostly have pointed out these patterns in wee little bees such as Hylaeus and the Panurgines. But here it is in the biggest of big bees. WIP patterns are very useful in separating Carpenter Bee species, custom automotive paint selection, wing gazing, and general transcendence and desire to study and protect Nature. We Are Made One with What We Touch and See We are resolved into the supreme air, We are made one with what we touch and see, With our heart's blood each crimson sun is fair, With our young lives each spring impassioned tree Flames into green, the wildest beasts that range The moor our kinsmen are, all life is one, and all is change. - Oscar Wilde
