Description
English: Ypres. the Lille Gate
image: a view of the bomb damaged Lille Gate on the edge of the town centre of Ypres in Belgium. The gate and fortified city wall are scarred by previous artillery fire, a bridge leading from the gate across a moat to the left foreground. Bare tree stumps are dotted across the top of the city wall and the remains of bomb damaged buildings in the town centre can be seen on the other side of the wall. A single figure stands within the arch of the gate.
