Description De Gasthuis- of kleine kerk is in oorsprong de kapel van het Gasthuis, die in de tweede helft van de 14de eeuw werd gesticht en dat diende als onderkomen voor arme vreemdelingen op doorreis en voor behoeftige zieken. Het Gasthuis lag achter de kerk, aan de Hoge Molenstraat. Na de Reformatie werd deze kapel in gebruik gegeven aan de Waalse gereformeerde gemeente, die in 1587 ontstond.
