Highsmith Archive, Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division.; A number of such churches can be found in repurposed old mine, commercial, and railroad buildings throughout coal country in southern West Virginia Once-prosperous Kimball was incorporated in 1911 and named for Frederick J. Kimball, who was a president of the Norfolk and Western Railway. Kimball is the site of the first war memorial building erected in memory of African-American veterans of World War I.; Forms part of: West Virginia Collection within the Carol M.
