I don't know where the black outline of the pentagram is originated from, but at least government sites ([1], [2]), FOTW and Vexilla mundi are using a plain green pentagram with no borders visible. When looking at this photo of the flag, it seems that the outlines have something to do with how the pentagram is woven to the flag and therefore shouldn't be visible in a computer-generated image of the flag. –Vzb83 17:33, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

That looks like an out-of-date FOTW mirror. Checkout http://flagspot.net/flags/ma.html. I also generally put zero stock into tiny clipart images on any websites (including government ones), and don't ever trust vexilla-mundi.com without corroborating sources. ¦ Reisio 11:16, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

I disagree on automatically ignoring images at government websites; although they sometimes show incorrect proportions or inaccurate colours they still are official sources. Neither our flag collection, FOTW, the World Flag Database nor Vexilla mundi has got the most ideal flag images possible, and although Vexilla mundi does not cite sources, I haven't yet found any wrong information from it. I only use it as a source when there is no other source available for the exact colour tones or flag proportions, and certainly it's still far more better option than a flag copied straight from a free clipart library with no source for those at all. After reading the updated page at FOTW the current star seems right. I wish the uploader had provided a source or a reason for the change so that I wouldn't have had to be so suspicious. :) –Vzb83 13:32, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

The flag shown in the gouvernment website ([8]) is diffirent from the currently one now in Wikipedia and I think the one in "flagspot" is old or wrong, even if it's true i think the flag must be from an official source, from the ones flapping in the sky of Morocco and not from websites, the flags used now in Morocco are like that: ([9], [10], [11], [12], [13]). Current version seems wrong

Can the current flag be reverted to the old one? It seems wrong to make the current image appear as the regular flag of Morocco, while it isn't.

This "law" (if it is not obsolete since it is likely 100 years old) is about the merchant flag of the French protectorate of Morocco, not the national flag. This version is absolutely wrong and I've never seen a Moroccan flag with such a small star. --Omar-Toons (talk) 17:04, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

I tried to see if it was made obsolete and from the searching I have done, the answer is no. Other construction sheets I have seen outside of Morocco show case a smaller star (I seen big, I seen medium size, I seen small, the designs of the star is different) and there is a lot we just do not know right now. This code simplifies the pentagram from a 31-node filled path to a simple 5-node outlined path, reducing the file size by two thirds. The resulting image looks virtually identical to the current one. SiBr₄ (talk) 17:20, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

Bigger star

Hello,

The official portal of the Government of Morocco (maroc.ma/en, webpage "Flag of the Kingdom of Morocco") shows a flag with an unbordered star with a radius of 1/2. Then I think that the current file should be replaced by File:Flag of Morocco unbordered.svg in order to match the one shown on the Gov's website.

Pentagram is too small!

It seems that the pentagram used in this flag is way smaller than what's used officially. This caught my attention as I was reading an article and noticed the thumbnail of the flag and how you can't even make out the green pentagram.

EURREUR de drapeau : étoile trop petite (WRONG flag : too small star)

Il y a une erreur dans le drapeau actuellement présenté sur cette page (et qui apparaît donc sur toutes les pages), l'étoile est extrêmement petite sur la version mise en ligne le 17 août 2015 et ne correspond pas à celle du drapeau officiel dont l'étoile est beaucoup plus grande. Ce n'est pas le bon drapeau. Le drapeau actuellement ligne doit être revu, l faut corriger cela, et mettre en ligne un drapeau qui correspond aux dimensions réelles du drapeau officiel. Exemples de drapeaux officiels utilisés par l'État :

I don't usually get involved here, but I thought I would chime in today.

The fly is 600px. Thus the radius of the star (measured to its outer points) should be 100px. The radius of the star in the current file is roughly 99.3px. That is a 0.7% error. It is the sort of error that annoys me but it is not likely to be noticed by somebody staring at the flag.

Also, The Wikipedia page "Flag of Morocco" says: "The width of each one of the branches of the star shall be 1/20 of its length". I will assume that the length should be measured between two star tips, thus the length of each of the five lines should be approximately 190.21px (assuming a radius of 100). Thus the width of each line should be 190.21/20=9.51px. Current width is 14.62993431px which is 53.8% thicker than it should be. MapGrid (留言) 23:20, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

@MapGrid Acually the fly is 900px. I reviewed the source in French, it reads "le rayon est égal au 1/6 du battant" which translates to "the radius is equal to 1/6 of horizontal length". The word Battant (Fly) is synonymous with horizontal length as per this official source [19] and also this Wikipedia article. I have created a new construction sheet. Instead of uploading the image with a previously unused filename, I took the liberty of overwriting the existing content of File:Flag of Morocco (construction).svg. The old diagram did not indicate the line thickness; also it showed star dimensions which were not mathematically possible to achieve without warping the star.

The new diagram attempts to show how the line thickness of the star is derived. Unfortunately the line thickness will always be an irrational number (until it is rounded to some arbitray number of digits).

Note that the construction sheet on vexilla-mundi is scaled by 21 which results in a line thickness of 1.9972186842198…, but it is labeled as being exactly 2.

Flag doesn't look quite right

Hello! I was taking a look at the previous versions of this files and I noticed there are many other flags that look more correct than the current version. The green star (or pentagram) on current flag appears to be too thin, in contrast to how it appears in many official images from Morocco and its government. Before I make a possible revert, I'm think it would be more appropriate to bring it up in this discussion page before any potential action can be taken. I think going to either this version (with the detailed pentagram and the interwoven design) or even this other version, which looks mostly similar to the ideal first one but with the center green pentagram unbordered and not interwoven.
