DescriptionCMOC Treasures of Ancient China exhibit - boat-shaped pot.jpg |
English: Boat-Shaped Pot. Yangshao Culture. Neolithic Period (ca. 5000 - 3000 B.C.). Painted earthenware, 15.6 tall, 24.8 cm long. Excavated from Beishouling site, Baoji city, Shaanxi province. The black fishnet design on this vessel, which was used to draw water, suggests that the Neolithic Chinese were already using nets to catch fish, as well as using the motif as a decorative pattern.
