English: Castles of Munster: Drishane, Cork A MacCarthy tower house standing 72 feet high, and said to have been built in 1450, stands on a rock in the grounds of a former 18c/19c house of the Wallis family. They became the outright owners in 1728; it was they who added a parapet and a roof in the 19c, and also the adjacent circular tower. |
