Summary[edit]
DescriptionVlad Tepes - Blatt 3.jpg |
Woodcut from the title page of a 1499 pamphlet published by Markus Ayrer in Nuremberg. It depicts Vlad III "the Impaler" (identified as Dracole wyade = Draculea voivode) dining among the impaled corpses of his victims. The German translated into English means “Vlad iii achieved historical fame. on the one hand through his resistance against the ottoman empire, and its expansion in the balkans. on the other, because of the cruelty it is said to have been. in pamphlets, lost stories of the 15th century, he is portrayed as an agitator; in the political-polemical way, for example, as a human butcher who had “dying children praise”. [4] he is said to have had a preference for executions by impalation, which in christian areas posthumously, around 1550, earned him another nickname: țepeș, although he was previously called kaziklu bey or kaziklı voyvoda by the ottomans, for the same reason. the originally politically motivated legends about alleged atrocities committed by the voivode found widespread use during the 15th and 16th centuries, especially in germany and russia, ultimately, it's about the atrocities of prince dracukl, better known as dracula." Voivode in English means “Warlord" Original caption:
