Mali

[edit]

I think Mali should be on the map colored Dark Blue (Government overthrown) due to its successful coup, governmental power shift, civil war and the defacto secession of its northern territories. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 04:41, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is Mali part of the Arab Spring? I know many of the weapons came from Libya, but that isn't quite the same thing. And the coup wasn't due to protests. Kwamikagami (talk) 09:13, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it could fall under Gray (Countries outside the Arab world with related crises).
Yes, I had it grey for a while, but was reverted for that too. But there were lots of other grey countries: Greece, Spain, etc. It would depend on what 'grey' is supposed to mean, and I can't get an answer from anyone on that. If Mali is grey, why, and which other countries would qualify for the same reason? Kwamikagami (talk) 07:03, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Agree You could reverd it again to grey... But in Greece, Spain etc. there is no violence. Maybe you could make that the difference? I90Christian (talk) 21:27, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know which difference you mean. I have not seen a RS that any of these countries—Mali, Greece, Spain—are part of the Arab Spring. (Though there is definitely violence in Greece!) Do you know of any? We do have refs that Iran is part of it. "Related crises" – what should count as 'related'? Mali, because of the weapons flowing from Libya, even though the Tuareg rebellion has been smoldering for decades, and is entirely different in conception and goals? The US? China? Grey

[edit]

What does grey mean then? --Z 00:58, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's what I've been asking for months. It is "related crises", but included places like Greece. I've restricted it to Iran, which WP-en references as related. But we have no working criterion for which countries to include. Kwamikagami (talk) 17:35, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I would include Turkey. Hellerick (talk) 12:02, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
