Nice photo. I think this might be a Black Ratsnake, Elaphe (Pantherophis) obsoleta. The overall square (in cross-section), heavyset body, some (?) spots on the belly, and some spots on the back are more characteristic of Elaphe obsoleta than Coluber constrictor. Some identification links:

These two can be rather maddeningly similar. One key field mark is that Elaphe obsoleta is fairly easy to photograph, while Coluber constrictor is difficult--it is very fast-moving. Coluber constrictor is also rather round in cross-section, while Elaphe obsoleta is square or rectangular, with a much heavier body. Best wishes. I have long enjoyed your pages on Asilidae. --Cotinis 20:54, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Answer: Thank you very much for your identification and correction . I try to add a new version next time. Who can help with deleting this file? I couldn't found a possibility. --Dysmachus 08:19, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think the best thing to do is upload the file again under the correct name, and then add this to the image descriptio of the original file--this one: {{badname|Image:correctname}}. That will flag the file so an administrator can delete it. You should check for usage on Commons and go in and correct the name on pages where the file is linked. You can also Check usage on other Wikimedia sites with the tab check usage. (Does not currently work for English Wikipedia--I think a simple search there will find pages that use it.)--Cotinis 10:06, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
