Permission and source
[edit]I have updated the source information to clarify that this photograph is MINE. I scanned it and uploaded it. It is a US Army photograph and therefore has no copyright restrictions to its posting.
Please do not delete. Contact me if any questions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tkempster (talk • contribs)
Is there a possibility to find out who was the author? Or at least a prove that the author was employee of the government?

If necessary, I could scan and post the reverse side of this official U.S. Army photograph, which includes blanket permission to redistribute along with a request to credit as "U.S. Army Photograph". Some of these old, official photos (usually the wartime journalists' photos) have the actual photographer's name on them. This one does not. -- User:Tkempster
- Scanning the backside would be great. If you have privacy concerns, you can send the scan to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and some text that is belongs to
File:LTG (USA) Edward H. Brooks, final formal military portrait.jpg
. Or just upload it and setPermission-file for "File:LTG (USA) Edward H. Brooks, final formal military portrait.jpg"
as the description. Then, please add[[File:Permisssion-file-name|thumb]]
to the permission section of this file.
- But maybe we don't need to make so much trouble. I asked the one who tagged the file. Should answer here. -- RE rillke questions? 18:42, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
- I think the explanation is clear enough. A scan of the backside wouldn't be really more convincing (as it might as well be another backside, if you really want to find a problem). So that trouble of sending a scan indeed is unneeded. The written note is not troublesome either. I have removed the "no source" note. Kind regards, Lymantria (talk) 22:43, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
