Packed thumbnails for gallery?[edit]

Mateus2019 and I are having a disagreement about whether this gallery should have packed thumbnails and no infobox, or an infobox and no packed thumbnails.

Do any other editors have an opinion? — hike395 (talk) 07:31, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My preference: Packed thumbnails AND a Wikidata Infobox. They go well together (at least on my screen). Then you have the best of both worlds: wide panoramas and information from the WD IB. JopkeB (talk) 16:21, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
IB + "packed" is fine with me. Looks like this:
<nowiki>Lago Donner; ドナー湖; lac Donner; Donner Lake; Jezioro Donner; Donner Lake; Доннер; Lago Donner; Donner Lake; Donner; 唐納湖; Lago Donner; lago della California; lac de Californie, États-Unis; freshwater lake in California, United States; Donner Lake; Truckee Lake; Truckees Lake</nowiki>

Because there are so few images in this gallery, the infobox doesn't cause problems in this case. We can have both as a compromise. — hike395 (talk) 12:33, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it depends on the display. When I looked at this on another laptop, the last four images are on the same row, and the last two have different heights than the first two. It looks like this:
@JopkeB: do you not see something like this? I believe this to be a problematic layout. — hike395 (talk) 13:34, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, I have no problems, but I only use a personal computer for internet, not a laptop or other device. To me this seems a technical problem. Perhaps mention it on Commons:Village pump/Technical. JopkeB (talk) 15:35, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think this kind of misbehavior is known. The FAQ page for Wikidata infobox has, as its first entry {{Wikidata Infobox}} doesn't play well with other templates that want to use the whole page width. Move it down below those, and everything should be fine.
I suppose the gallery is short enough where we can put the infobox below the gallery. That may look weird, though. — hike395 (talk) 02:56, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation where my motivation came from: My screen display setting was not at 100 but around 210%. (to reset, press strg hold that and press zero). "packed" will not removed by myself anymore. --Mateus2019 (talk) 16:43, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! — hike395 (talk) 12:33, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
