Reimplementing this template based on Template:Userbox

Great Brightstar, now the letter code in the left section is bold. IMO that doesn't look better than the previous style was. For example compare the babel boxes on top of Category:User ky and Category:User ky-1. --Achim (talk) 20:56, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

{{BUser}} migration broke heavy-used categorisation

Hello all, I just noticed a huge back sliding was due to changes on this template. No ill intend suspected, but we would gain from fixing it.

A large usecase of {{BUser}} are made by Category:Userbox ability templates, with about 9,000 transclusions.

Those 40ish template were migrated to more standard {{BUser}} in 2014, which is a good idea at first. But with the migration (Perhelion 2014-05-22) to standard {BUser} template, the willful categorisation of Media Commons' users by media skills groups got removed and broken (Perhelion 2014-05-23) with quick comment « a cat link in there looks very strange and is also not needed anyway », de facto removing categorisation mecanism for about 8,000+ transclusions.

I do not suspect ill intent, I rather suspect huge workload. But anyway, while unoticed, this may worth a roll back and to restore these parameters category, category2. Yug (talk) 09:44, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
