Why "…"? If I want to create a new language version, I need the full source... --Slomox (talk) 00:04, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Because you might want to base it on a version other than English. Not sure which example is better. Maybe both. --AVRS (talk) 14:55, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
de facto English is the base language, so translating from English should be encouraged (although translating from another language is okay too). At least "..." does not mean less work for people who want to translate from another language, so I would like to give the full English source. --Slomox (talk) 17:09, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Point. Done. Though how do you like this: {{PD-RU-exempt}}? --AVRS (talk) 18:12, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean with how do you like this? The fact, that it flows over the right margin of the page? I see no problem with it. Or did you mean something else? --Slomox (talk) 19:34, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think it doesn’t make the syntax of the layout template clear enough (since there is no highlighting). Maybe I should add an empty example. {{PD-Russia-2008}} is shorter, but the text there has two parts. --AVRS (talk) 22:00, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You could do something like this, but it makes the source ugly:

To create a new language version of this template, create a new subpage, use this code and translate the green text:

{{PD-Russia-2008/layout
|text=
