An old numismatic book 📖 found through one of these sites.

This page basically serves as a collection of links 🔗 to websites with handy information 🛈 or images we could directly upload to Wikimedia Commons.

Despite this page's name these websites aren't exclusively for numismatic resources, but most of them will be, other websites I have used in... Ehhhmmmm... Excess won't be linked here as those are basically everywhere to find... 😅😅😅

Also I won't add Flickr accounts and albums here as I consider that a whole different subject, and many other resources already have their own dedicated sub-pages, this page is not an extension of the WikiProject Numismatics, only complementary.

  • Mywoodprints.free.fr, contains a lot of useful information on Asian cash coins and downloadable Asian texts and paintings. The owner got his coins and coin-books from his great-uncle Lazare Montagu (1875 - 1959). Lazare was a catholic missionary in Japan between 1902 and 1927, in Hakodate (1902-1905), Hirosaki (1905-1911), and Sendai (1911-1927).
  • Carole Raddato, a Flickr-account I should regularly watch, content mostly revolves around Roman-related archeological sites and musea.
  • VIATOR IMPERI, a Flickr-account specialised in Ancient Rome. This is a Spanish user and visits a lot of Spanish musea.
  • Coinworld, a news 📰 website dedicated to numismatic subjects. Public domain scans of banknotes pop-up there from time-to-time.
  • Ancient Chinese Coins, a website dedicated to Ancient Chinese Coinage, if you need any help identifying your Chinese cash coins before uploading them to Wikimedia Commons then you could use this website to do so.

  • Numismatic Bibliomania Society (NBS), Yes, I know that they’re all “© All rights reserved” but these images can serve as a reference for organising photographs of coins on Wikimedia Commons.
  • s.com/ Banknotes.com, contains many {{PD-scan}} images of banknotes, but watch out for watermarks. ⚠ (blacklisted, probably in bad faith.)
  • The Banknote Den, a website filled with PD-scans of extremely rare banknotes from around the world (mostly those United States of America, China, and Japan). The website is operated by David B. Lok, the writer of The Many Faces of Money and contains a lot of detailed information about every banknote hosted on the website.
  • Korean Cash (CoinTalk). A thread on CoinTalk that explicitly states that Wybrand op den Velde & David Hartill’s 2013 work “Cast Korean coins and charms” is the best English language source for Korean Cash coins, also note that Gary Ashkenazy's (גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal trek is #3 (after Mandel), this basically places Wikipedia on #3 information 🛈 wise, but due to the lack of images (currently, as of 07 D. 01 M. 2018 A.) this can also realistically be seen as #4, this means that I should probably buy Wybrand op den Velde & David Hartill’s 2013 book 📖 “Cast Korean coins and charms” to expand the Wikipedia articles on Korean cash coins. I will keep this link 🔗 here as a reminder to myself that even the best online numismatic resources aren’t complete if we (yes, you too) don't import all useful information from the outernet to the internet, so join the cause of free knowledge and buy more books to insert here. 😉
  • Korean Money / 韓國銀行 發券部 (1982), from the Bank of Korea's Digital Library. A book 📖 that can help you identify Korean cash coins and modern coinage. This book 📖 was written by the government of South-Korea, and can be viewed gratis here.
  • The Banknote Index, an index of banknotes from all over the world 🗺. The website contains many PD-scans of banknotes that are either rare on other websites or can’t be found anywhere else on the internet. Unlike many other websites the Banknote Index has scans of both the front and back of every featured banknote.

  • Pediahoedblog, an amazing blog that criticises the culture of Wikimedia projects written by Graaf Statler. (in Dutch) If I were allowed I would publish every post in w:nl:De Kroeg, unfortunately those critical of Wikimedia projects can’t expect to be participating here for long so I will leave the link 🔗 here for those interested, copying from this website is permitted under the Creative Commons 3.0 license.
