He is a passionate naturalist & a wildlife photographer & currently fully devoted to the building of eFloraofIndia website for documenting Flora of India. In the past, he has been trekking a lot over last 20 years. He is creating awareness about our Trees & Plants, winged friends (Birds), Butterflies, etc. in particular & nature around us in general.

He is the author of 'A Photoguide to the birds of Kolkata & Common birds of India'.

He had held a few Exhibitions mainly focusing on Bird Photography.

He is the owner of eFloraofIndia - a google group. eFloraofIndia (earlier Indiantreepix) is the largest Google e-group in the world in this field & largest nature related (and the most constructive with more than 3300 members, 4,00,000 messages and more than 1,00,000 observations on 26/9/21) in India devoted to creating awareness, helping in identification etc. along with discussion & documentation of Indian Flora. He is the owner of (and also compiling) eFloraofIndia website for documenting Flora of India that is being discussed on eFloraofIndia google e-group along with supplementing the working of the group. More than 14,000 species' pages (with more than 4,00,000 images) of seed plants, ferns, fungi & others are available with details for those species which have already been discussed in eFloraofIndia e-group along with comparative images at genus and family pages. It is the largest database on net on Indian Flora.

He is also the winner of Wipro-NFS Sparrow Award for 2014 mainly for eFloraofIndia.

He has worked on 'Wikiproject Lepidoptera' & 'Wikiproject Birds' & contributing to 'Tree of Life Wikiproject' of Wikipedia. He has uploaded around eight thousand of his best images of Birds, Buttterflies, Plants etc. (more than a thousand species & eight thousand pictures), which can be seen at Wikimedia Commons(arranged alphabetically & place wise). One can also use them for free as per Creative Commons license attached with each image.
