My name is Mike Young and I'm a Sydneysider currently living in Lisarow (previously in Crows Nest).

I started digital photography with an Olympus C730, and a Panasonic TZ1 when I could manage to borrow it from my wife. We now have replaced the Panasonic TZ1 and TZ2 with a TZ20, and I'm still using a Panasonic FZ18 which replaced the aging Olympus. A Nikon D5000 temporarily displaced the Panasonic FZ18 and now a Nikon P900 has become my main camera (the lenses on the D5000 need repair or replacement). Both the P900 and D5000 have their place - the P900 is a good daytime camera and the huge zoom can be really handy. While it doesn't do too badly on night shots, the D5000 is still slightly better in low light. The cameras now have another competitor, an iPhone4 (now replaced by an iPhone SE). Like the FZ18 it is only really good in bright lighting - the picture of James St bridge below gives an idea of what it can do.

I am also currently a volunteer member of the committee of Sydney's Bush Music Club.
