Picture of the Year voting round 1 open

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

Übertragung der Denkmalvorlage

Moin XenonX3,
die Vorlage habe ich aus den Einzeldateien in die Kategorie übertragen, in der sie zusammengefasst sind. So erscheinen dann nicht alle einzelnen Bilddateien in den Kategorien ("cultural heritage monunments in …"), sondern alle zusammen durch ihre gemeinsame Kategorie.

Ist das mit der Bremen-Redaktion so abgesprochen? Ich denke nämlich, dass jede Datei schon noch als Denkmal erkennbar sein sollte. Das ist ohne Vorlage nicht gegeben. XenonX3 (talk) 15:55, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Nein, es ist nicht abgesprochen. Siehe Diskussion. Die Vorlage ist notwendiger Bestandteil der Bildbeschreibung. Ich würde es begrüßen, wenn Ulf Heinsohn die Vorlage jeweils selbst wieder einfügen würde. --Quarz (talk) 19:57, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

Inappropriate deletion tagging

You tagged my photo, File:Lead Photo For Mary Allen Seminary0-739609363488853.jpg, for deletion – however, it is clearly marked with a CC-By-SA 3.0 license, indicating that it is my own work. The author and source are self-evident. Please do not tag CC-By-SA photos as needing additional author/source information; if you have a legitimate concern about an image being inappropriately uploaded under CC-By-SA, please use the copyright violation tag {{Copyvio}}. No it doesn't. I'm checking Category:Uploaded with Mobile/Web and 99% of those pictures are clearly not the uploaders own work, although being tagged as CC-By-SA 3.0. If you are the creator of that photo then please use Template:Information and fill out the forms. Thx, XenonX3 (talk) 17:19, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Ok, I see what happened now – the mobile upload workflow incorrectly left off the boilerplate {{Information}} tag. I apologize; that is indeed part of the Commons licensing guidelines. This needs to get fixed ASAP, and I'll make sure that it does. But the category is certainly not 99% copyvio: this, this, this, among many others, are perfectly okay. Can you please hold off on mass tagging these images for now? I'm not talking about the obvious copyvio, which I'm happy to help you tag, but the clearly acceptable, encyclopedic images that are in that category, too, and shouldn't be deleted. Hi, me again, in my official capacity :) Sorry for being grumpy at you earlier; I had no idea that the author/source parameters were being left off mobile uploads, which is why I was confused and frustrated by the deletion tag. Denkmalliste

Hallo, Erstmal vielen Dank für die Mühe, es hilft mir auch viel weiter. Im Moment scheitere ich noch daran, daß meine Canon-Kamera die Fotos immer als ...JPG schickt und mir gelingt es nicht, in Euer gewünschtes .jpg zu wandeln. Ich wollte Euch nicht schon wieder nerven und habe es mit der Canon-Hotline versucht, aber die ist immer besetzt...Ich wünsche schonmal allerseits ein fröhliches Pfingstfest ! Moin, JPG ist kein Problem! Du musst bei der Bildeinbindung nur auch JPG angeben. Die Software unterscheidet eben zwischen jpg und JPG sowie jpeg und JPEG, sie akzeptiert aber alles davon (man muss nur eben das angeben, was man auch hochgeladen hat). Das gilt auch für die anderen Dateiendungen, z.B. PNG und png oder BMP und bmp. Umwandeln muss man also nichts. Ebenfalls schöne Pfingsten und viele Grüße, XenonX3 (talk) 13:18, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Moin, danke für die Rechtevergabe! Ich dachte eigentlich, das Verschiebeskript würde die Dateieinbindungen selbst umbiegen? Zumindest wird das so angezeigt und bei früheren Verschiebungen habe ich auch entsprechende Edits in der de-WP gehabt. Hat sich das geändert? XenonX3 (talk) 14:34, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Das Script schafft nur eine gewisse Anzahl. Man sollte jedes Bild prüfen ob es noch Einbindungen gibt. Das Bot was die Einbindung auf allen WMF Projekten ersetzen sollte ist schon seit Wochen außer Funktion. Dess weiteren rate ich davon ab, Dateien umzubenennen die eine hohe Anzahl an Einbindungen aufweisen. Viele grüße--Steinsplitter (talk) 14:39, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Umbenennung von Bremer Denkmalkategorien

Hallo XenonX3, vor einiger Zeit hat User:NeverDoING Bremer Denkmalkategorien umbenannt, die seiner Ansicht nach nicht den Oberkategorien entsprachen. Ansprache mit dem Hinweis auf die automatische Kategorisierung beim Bremer Express-Upload und dem WLM-Wizard blieb fruchtlos. Man kann durchaus der Ansicht sein, dass die Stadtteilkategorie nicht unbedingt bestimmend für den Namen sein muss, weil auch Cultural heritage monuments in Bremen by borough und die Bezirkskategorien, die wie z.B. Cultural heritage monuments in Bremen-Nord ja „Bremen-“ im Namen tragen, Oberkategorien sind.
Godewind regt nun an, Dich nach Deiner Meinung zu fragen, ob ein Revert angesichts der Folgen für die Automatisierung angemessen ist. Recht hat er - ich bitte Dich daher um Dein Statement. Dank und Gruß --Quarz (talk) 19:05, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Frage zur Vorgehensweise

Hi XenonX3, ich habe heute ein Foto des Wohn?hauses eines Rennfahrers geschossen. Ergab sich so zufällig, als ich auf Pyramidenjagd war. Über der Garage ist ein Wandbild mit dem Rennmotorrad angebracht, im Hintergrund die Kirche zu sehen. Meine Frage wäre: ist es irgendwie unerwünscht oder verstößt es gegen eine Regel, ein solches Foto hochzuladen? --Markscheider (talk) 19:57, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

LA Werke von Hartmut Urban

Hallo! Die Bestätigung der bei mir und meiner Schule, dem Akademischen Gymnasium Graz liegenden vollumfänglichen Nutzungsrechte der Bilder aller Werke von Hartmut Urban wurde heute von mir sowohl an permissions-commons@wikimedia.org als auch an permissions-commons-de@wikimedia.org mittels 2er E-Mails übermittelt. Somit erübrigt sich eigentlich jegliche Diskussion darüber! Mit Gruß --Dnalor_01 (Diskussion) 15:54, 16. Dez. 2013 (CET).

Die Bilder aller Werke von Hartmut Urban wurden gestern abends freigeschaltet, d.h. sie werden nicht gelöscht und können entsprechend der vorliegenden Genehmigung verwendet werden. --Dnalor_01 (Diskussion) 12:10, 19. Dez. 2013 (CET).
