Slobot

Operator: Slomox (talk)

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic supervised

Programming Language(s): pywikipedia

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): Manual start

Bot flag requested: (Y/N): Y

Functions:

The bot will be used for preparation works for issues related to localization and to the Commons:WikiProject Templates. Considered tasks for example are replacing 'own work', 'self-made' and other synonyms of those strings in the source parameter of the information template with {{Own}}. This allows every user to see the string in his or her own language. A second possible task would be unifying the format of the date parameter of the information template to ISO format (2009-01-23). That would allow automatic conversion of the date to the format common in the user's preferred language. So it will mainly be text replacement tasks. --Slomox (talk) 09:29, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

It would be really nice if you could make test edits in different languages for some days, so we can check everything goes ok. Thanks, Patrícia msg 09:50, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any previous bot experience? Do you know how to work with regular expressions? Multichill (talk) 23:36, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Slobot has a bot flag on nds:, de:, and en:. It was active on interwiki links there. And I know regular expressions. --Slomox (talk) 00:41, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This all looks OK to me, but I see there has been no action since Jan 23rd. Is bot status still requested? If so, I see no reason to deny it. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 17:53, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is still requested. I made no edits, cause without flag you always get a captcha after few edits. That slows editing down to about the same speed as editing manually. --Slomox (talk) 22:22, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Flag granted. Patrícia msg 18:00, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
